Learn how to make sweetened condensed milk frosting and pie/tart filling with one ingredient in 1 minute or less. It's a genius hack!
This trick is genius, folks! Take note: there is simply no easier way out there to make frosting (or pie filling) than this. All that you need in order to make our one-ingredient sweetened condensed milk frosting and pie/tart filling is... sweetened condensed milk. (LOL)
This is a cool homemade Brazilian method which is very useful abroad-- anywhere that Nestle Leite Condensado de Colher (Spoonable Sweetened Condensed Milk) is not available.
That's right! In Brazil, Nestle produces a special "Creamy Sweetened Condensed Milk" (Leite Condensado Cremoso) or Spoonable Sweetened Condensed Milk (Leite Condensado de Colher), ready to eat right out of the can.
Down there, we eat it as a snack by the spoonful, spread it on as a frosting for cakes, or use it as a filling for baked goodies. Super-cool, right?!
But here in the USA, where the product is not available, this Brazilian is going to to share with you a clever hack on how to make it at home in the blink of an eye. When you find out how, you're gonna go: "Duuuuuh, why didn't I think of that?" 🙂
Ok, ok! You may already be curious and asking yourself how to make sweetened condensed milk frosting with just one ingredient, and how to do it so quickly.
Well, check it out!
HOW TO MAKE SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK FROSTING OR PIE/TART FILLING WITH JUST ONE INGREDIENT
OK, prepare to either be surprised or angry that you didn't think of this before.
All you have to do is refrigerate a can of sweetened condensed milk overnight, open and pour it into a blender, and blend for about one minute or less... or until sweetened condensed milk is so darn thick that the blender blades can barely move.
The result? It's so thick that you can turn the blender bowl upside down and it won't even fall out... just like stiff beaten egg whites.
Then you can spoon the super creamy sweetened condensed milk into a piping bag and frost cakes, or use it as a filling for tarts and pies.
Of course, you can also just straight out eat it by the spoonful (MY FAVORITE WAY because, as you know, you have to taste everything that you make first, right?). 😉
See? I told ya, hon! 🙂
Now that you've learned how to make sweetened condensed milk frosting, I'll share with you some of yummy variations.

How to Make Sweetened Condensed Milk Frosting with One Ingredient
Ingredients
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
Instructions
- REFRIGERATE a can of sweetened condensed milk overnight. Open and pour sweetened condensed milk into a blender and blend for about one minute or less... or until sweetened condensed milk is so thick that the blender blades can barely move.
- Turn the cup of the blender upside down and sweetened condensed milk frosting won't come down. That's how you know it is thick enough!
- Then, spoon sweetened condensed milk frosting into a piping bag and frost cakes, or use it as a filling for tarts and pies. Preferably, refrigerate cake/pie/tart -- especially at summertime.
- Of course, you can also just straight out eat it by the spoonful (MY FAVORITE WAY because, as you know, you have to taste everything that you make first, right?). 😉
Recipe Notes
- Any leftovers should be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Where is sweetened condensed milk available? It's an international ingredient available around the world, such as in the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
- What is sweetened condensed milk used for? Sweetened condensed milk is commonly used in baked goods/desserts such as pie fillings, fudge, pudding, or ice cream — and also as a sweetener in coffee (e.g. Vietnamese coffee) and tea. We also use it to make frosting.
- Can you eat sweetened condensed milk just by itself? Yes! It's also consumed with fruits as a snack in Brazil, or even by the spoonful when well beaten in the blender, transforming into "creamy sweetened condensed milk" or "spoonable sweetened condensed milk" -- which we suggested as a frosting here.

Rachana Patel says
Will this frosting stay stiff in hot humid weather??.....also can I add some instant coffee powder to make it a Coffee frosting...my main concern is that it is hot and humid where I live and my frostings always become runny and doesn’t hold its shape when I pipe on cupcakes or cakes..
Denise Browning says
Hi Rachana! I understand your concern. When I blend this sweetened condensed milk frosting and then refrigerate, I experience no problem pipping and also no mess. If you intend to serve it in the summertime, I would advise you to serve the cupcakes/cake chilled.
Meagan says
Is there a strawberry variation that would work?
Denise Browning says
Hi Meagan! I have never tried one but I think that if you blend the sweetened condensed milk with 1 or 2 teaspoons of strawberry extract and also a few drops of red food coloring (if desired, for color only) would work fine. I can't recommend fresh strawberries because they contain water and can loosen the consistency of this frosting.
Viviana Carrasco says
Hey can I use an electric hand beater??
Denise Browning says
Hi VIviana! You may try to use a mixer to make this sweetened condensed mix frosting but it may not thicken the same way. Test and see. If it doesn't thick enough, beat in a 1/2 to 1 stick of softened unsalted butter -- almost like you were making buttercream without sugar. I always use a high speed blender to whip up the condensed milk and make it thick enough as a frosting.
